LEONI Elocab, Ltd. announces inauguration of building expansion in Kitchener, Canada for new product offering intONE™: encompassing custom-engineered interconnect solutions and tailor-made cables

Kitchener, Ontario CANADA – LEONI, a global provider of energy and data management solutions in the automotive sector and other industries, will host the inauguration ceremony of its building expansion on May 31 at its facility in Kitchener, Canada. The expansion will support manufacturing of specialty cable and interconnect systems for non-automotive industries and the launch of the new intONE™ product line.

To keep up with rising demand of high-performance flat flex (HPF) cables, most commonly used in the medical and semiconductor industry, LEONI Elocab Ltd., with strong support of German-based LEONI Group, has invested in the expansion of its building by another 2,900 square meters.

With the expansion, LEONI is prepared to support the production of technically demanding customer-specific cables and cable assemblies, plug connectors, cable harnesses, drag chain sets, casting electronic assemblies or fiber optic solutions beyond the HPF product range.

In addition, the facility will also support the new product line LEONI intONE™, which provides the first ever Full Service Solution available on the market. LEONI intONE™ is an offering of custom-engineered solutions featuring complete cable assembly consultation and product development.

With total square meters of 7,100, it is the second expansion in six years at the Kitchener location. To further benefit from the strong growth in the highly technical industries investment is required for building infrastructure and production equipment.

With the continued support of government partners across the Waterloo Region and Waterloo EDC, LEONI Elocab Ltd. is dedicated to the increasing manufacturing in this community and growing its market in North America by providing a wide range of solutions specialized for high flex round and flat cables.

"LEONI Elocab is an important part of Waterloo Region’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem,” said Tony LaMantia, President & CEO of Waterloo EDC. “As a local company that exports the vast majority of its highly-specialized products, LEONI’s decision to expand their footprint in Kitchener is clear validation of our community’s international manufacturing competitiveness. As always, an expansion of this scale wouldn’t have been possible without seamless municipal, provincial and federal collaboration.”
